“中演院线”是由中国对外文化集团有限公司旗下中演演出院线发展有限责任公司发起、管理、运营的现代化、国际化、综合性大型文艺演出院线,是专业的剧院建设与管理、演出运营、策划营销、内容制作与艺术交流平台,为中国对外文化集团有限公司四大业务板块之一。中演院线于2009年12月在中宣部、原文化部、财政部的大力支持与指导下正式组建,2010年5月9日在广州正式启动,2021年随中国对外文化集团有限公司整体划转至紫荆文化集团。
“CPAA Theatres” is a modern, international and comprehensive theatre chain initiated, managed and operated by CPAA Theatres Development Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. (CAEG). It serves as a professional platform for theatre and performance management, marketing, producing and artistic exchanges. In December 2009, CPAA Theatres was formally established under the support and guidance of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China. Afterwards, a grand opening ceremony was held in Guangzhou on May 9, 2010. Since 2021, as one of the four major sections of CAEG, it is managed by Bauhinia Culture Group Corporation Limited.

Adhering to the policy of “marketization, standardization, intensification and branding,” CPAA Theatres is committed to promoting a streamlined operation mode that covers “creation, production, performance, management and service” and put forward “Ten Major Projects,” namely ideological construction, system construction, theatre development, creative production, brand building, Belt and Road project, culture and tourism integration, talent training, platform construction and capital operation. So far, CPAA Theatres has formed five major platforms concerning the theatre and performing arts industry: 1) the operation platform dominated by 20 directly-managed theatres and 70 affiliated theatres at home and abroad; 2) the international exchange platform with the Silk Road International League of Theatres as its core; 3) the content platform led by Performance Operation Center of CPAA Theatres, Beijing One World Culture Communication Co., Ltd. and CPAA One Dream Co., Ltd.; 4) the information and ticketing platform centered on CPAA Ticket China Co., Ltd.; and 5) the service platform for business consultation and construction planning of large-scale cultural facilities with CPAA Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. as its core.

Theatre Management
CPAA Theatres strives to develop "five-sphere theatres" characterized by “high productivity, excellent marketing, leading brand, centralized management and high-technology.” By February, 2025 it has owned 20 directly-managed theatres at home and abroad, and 70 affiliated theatres distributed in 27 provinces, cities, autonomous regions and municipalities of China. The 20 directly-managed theatres are: Guangzhou Opera House, Daning Theatre, Gansu Grand Theatre, Banlam Grand Theater, Dezhou Grand Theatre, Huafa & CPAA Grand Theatre, Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center, Foshan Grand Theatre, Quanzhou Grand Theatre, Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House, Bay Opera of Shenzhen, Chengdu CPAA & Huatian Arts Center, Shunyi Grand Theatre, Dongfang Grand Theatre, Pingtan International Performing Arts Center, Chengdu X Live, CDHT CPAA Grand Theatre, Zhuhai Jinwan Art Center, Urumqi Grand Theatre and TMH CPAA Grand Theatre (listed in chronological order of contract signing).

In the process of actively integrating into and serving the nation’s major regional development strategies, CPAA Theatres has fully demonstrated the responsibility of a state-owned enterprise through its strategic theatre layout in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Chengdu-Chongqing region, shaping new advantages for high-quality development. Among these, CPAA Theatres started its journey in Guangzhou at its inception and has cultivated a fruitful presence in the Greater Bay Area over the past decade. Currently, the comprehensive theaters under CPAA Theatres are all iconic and representative cultural and artistic venues in their respective regions, acting as brand cultural landmarks. They boast first-class hardware facilities and extensive experience in hosting large-scale performances and cultural events. Furthermore, CPAA Theatres is actively exploring new forms of performing arts, continuously improving the entire ecosystem of performing arts development. To date, it has completed the layout of the “Arts on the Way” series of new performance spaces and small-to-medium-sized theaters in cities such as Beijing and Chengdu.

Giving full play to the advantages of its theatres, CPAA Theatres organizes a large number of excellent performances, art festivals and various kinds of activities every year, including Spring for Chinese Arts, Lin Zhaohua Theatre Arts Festival, Guangzhou Art Festival, Young Musicians Piano Festival in the Greater Bay Area, etc., which enrich the regional culture and brands of the cultural industry. CPAA Theatres and its subsidiaries are committed to the operation and promotion of high-quality productions, staging thousands of domestic and foreign high-quality performances every year. In recent years, representative works are musicals Cats, Mamma Mia!, The Orphan of Zhao; dance dramas The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting, The Eternal Wave, Awakening Lion, Confucious, Once and musicals Phantom of the Opera (Chinese adaptation) to name but a few.

中演院线及旗下子公司、剧院坚持内容为王,以平台全产业链为项目精品化制作护航,在大型舞台艺术节目创制作方面具备天然优势,集结中外优势创制作人才,投入制作的大型舞台艺术作品及相关艺术活动,缔造了一系列现象级文化事件。由旗下广州大剧院执行制作的首部原创歌剧《马可·波罗》,于2018年完成广州、北京两地的首演,2019年赴意大利巡演,2020年以院庆特别版线上线下同步推出,缔造票房佳绩。《马可·波罗》尝试用国际语言讲述中国故事,这种创新性的歌剧制作模式赢得了业内很大反响。人民网撰文称,《马可·波罗》营造出了“中国故事、国际表达;西洋歌剧、中文演唱的审美境界”,极大凸显了“文化自信”。
Content Production
CPAA Theatres, along with its subsidiaries and directly-managed theatres, places great emphasis on the quality of content. Supported by its comprehensive lines of business, CPAA Theatres boasts a distinct advantage in the creation and production of large-scale stage performances. By assembling top creative talents from China and abroad, it has produced numerous significant stage works and organized artistic events, many of which have become cultural sensations. Marco Polo was produced by one of CPAA Theatres’ subsidiaries, Guangzhou Opera House. After making its world premiere in Guangzhou and Beijing in 2018, it toured Italy in 2019, and launched a special edition in 2020, with good box office results. Marco Polo tries to tell a Chinese story in an international way of expression. This innovative mode of opera production has sparked great interest of its counterparts. People's Daily reported that Marco Polo created a new artistic form, that is, “Chinese story, global narrative; western opera, Chinese singing,” which greatly showcased our “cultural confidence.”
2021年,中演院线策划推出“新精典IP工程”。作为中演院线聚焦舞台艺术作品创作生产的内容品牌,“新精典IP工程”专注对各类有影响力、有潜力的优质文艺IP进行挖掘、孵化与运营,打造话剧、音乐剧等各类舞台艺术精品,并以此为基础进行IP的产业孵化,实现多种形态的项目输出,助力IP价值的全面凸显,最终构建中演院线的精品内容生产基地和内容核心品牌。同时,通过开展青年艺术创制作人才扶持工作、新锐演员培育等工作,为未来中演院线组建专业艺术团体做准备,为中演院线进一步完善全产业链平台培育种苗。此前推出话剧《人世间》、舞台剧《活动变人形》、舞台剧《两京十五日》、音乐剧《雄狮少年》等舞台艺术精品,连年持续开展市场巡演。其中舞台剧《活动变人形》于2022年第五届华语戏剧盛典一举拿下八项提名,最终夺得最佳年度剧目、最佳投资人、最佳导演三项大奖,同年斩获文华导演奖及首届国际戏剧“学院奖”(编剧奖)最佳青年编剧奖,并获上海静安现代戏剧谷2023壹戏剧大赏年度大戏。音乐剧《三星堆》是紫荆文化集团发布的“走进三星堆 读懂中华文明”全球推广项目之一,于2023年10月在四川成都首演。音乐剧《雄狮少年》2023年启动双语版本创作,粤语版受邀参与第52届香港艺术节,普通话版持续开展全国巡演。
In 2021, CPAA Theatres launched the “Stage Legend of CPAA Theatres”. As a content brand of China Performing Arts Group focused on the production of stage art works, the “Stage Legend of CPAA Theatres” focuses on exploring, incubating, and operating influential and promising literary and artistic IPs. Its goal is to develop exceptional stage art pieces like plays and musicals and utilize them as a foundation for IP industrial cultivation. By achieving diverse project outputs, the project aims to fully demonstrate the value of IPs and ultimately establish CPAA as a premier content production base and a core brand in the industry. Additionally, the project undertakes initiatives to support young artistic creators and nurture emerging actors, preparing for the future establishment of professional artistic groups within CPAA. These efforts contribute to the further enhancement of the comprehensive platform and the cultivation of talent across the entire industry chain. The project has previously launched outstanding stage art productions such as the drama REN SHI JIAN, stage-plays HUO DONG BIAN REN XING , Goodfellas in 15 Days and the musical I Am What I Am. It has continuously conducted tours in recent years. Notably, the stage-play HUO DONG BIAN REN XING received eight nominations at the 5th Chinese Theatre Awards in 2022 and emerged as the winner of three major awards: Best Play of the Year, Best Investor, and Best Director. The same year, it won the Wenhua Director Prize and Best Young Playwright of the 1st International Drama “Academy Award” (Playwright Award). Furthermore, it received the prestigious “Play of the Year” Award at the Shanghai Jing’an Modern Drama Valley 2023 One Drama Awards. One of the notable projects released by the Bauhinia Culture Group is the musical Sanxingdui which is part of the global promotion initiative “Understanding Chinese Civilization by Visiting Sanxingdui”. The musical premiered in Chengdu, Sichuan, in October 2023. Additionally, a bilingual version of the musical I Am What I Am was created in 2023, with the Cantonese version invited to perform at the 52nd Hong Kong Arts Festival, while the Mandarin version continues its nationwide tour.

With the effective integration of domestic and overseas performing arts resources of multiple channels and strong marketing capabilities, CPAA Theatres has successfully hosted and undertaken a number of large-scale activities and art festivals, including 2010, 2011 and 2012 Performance and Trade Fair for Outstanding Productions of National Art Troupes; 2012 National Excellent Play Performance; the 1st and 2nd "Haikou in Spring" Tourism Arts Festival in 2011 and 2012; the 6th Migu Music Awards - China Mobile Music Award Ceremony in 2012; the 1st “Ocean China” New Year’s Concert in 2012; the 6th to 8th China International Youth Arts Festival from 2013 to 2015; China (Guangzhou) International Performing Arts Fair from 2017 to 2024; China International Fair for Trade in Services—China (Beijing) Music Industry Conference from 2018 to 2022.
国际交流
2016年10月,在原文化部的指导下,中演院线筹备发起的“丝绸之路国际剧院联盟”正式成立,全力推进沿线国家、区域间在文化艺术交流方面的互利合作,截至2024年12月,“丝盟”已拥有来自48个国家和地区的180家成员单位,其中国外成员单位93家,国内成员单位87家(含港澳地区9家),文化版图覆盖欧、美、亚、非、拉五大洲,目前已发展成为世界上大型多边演艺交流组织之一。2017年—2023年剧院联盟已成功举办六届年会,“丝绸之路国际剧院联盟投洽会”于2023年、2024年举办两届,在平台建设、品牌打造、演艺产品“输出与引进”、剧院拓展咨询以及人员交流与人才培养等方面深耕细作,取得了一系列丰硕成果。
In October, 2016, under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (former Ministry of Culture), CPAA Theatres proposed the establishment of the "Silk Road International League of Theatres" (SRILT). The league proactively engages in cultural and artistic exchanges and win-win cooperation among countries along the Silk Road. By December 2024, 180members from 48 countries and regions have joined the league, among which 93are overseas members and 87 are members from China (including 9 members from Hong Kong and Macau), covering the continents of Europe, America, Latin America, Asia and Africa. The “SRILT” now has become a global large platform for performing arts exchanges and cooperation. SRILT has successfully held six annual conferences from 2017 to 2023, as well as two editions of the “Trade and Investment Fair of the Silk Road International League of Theatres” in 2023 and 2024. It has delivered remarkable outcomes in platform construction, brand building, “export and import” of productions, theatre construction consultation, personnel exchange and talent training, and so on.

In the future, CPAA Theatres aspires to become an influential theatre chain with wide coverage, good social and economic benefits and high-technology level through cross-regional, cross-field cooperation and large-scale, organized operation. It will master effective ways to tell China’s stories to actively increase China’s voice and build a good cultural brand.
